That way, no matter what area of the music industry you wish to pursue, you’ll be able to turn your passion into a career.

Student teaching

Music Education

A music teacher possesses a love of music and the desire to help others experience that connection.

The Music Education Program at Loyola New Orleans is built on an enduring tradition of excellence and marked by a rich legacy of accomplished graduates.

Study with renowned faculty musicians and practicing mentor-teachers. Pursue a comprehensive field-based curriculum and a rich pedagogical tradition, geared toward reaching and teaching students across a diverse range of learning styles. Grow as a musician while you learn to make a difference in today’s music classroom.

And ultimately, join the field of graduates who help people express themselves through music, at schools in Louisiana and across the United States.

Music Therapy

Music Therapy

Music has the power to transform lives. As a music therapist, you'll use music intentionally to help people improve their physical, emotional, cognitive, social, and communication skills while making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals across the lifespan.

At Loyola University New Orleans, you'll develop the musicianship, clinical skills, and compassionate approach needed to become an effective, board-certified music therapist. Through hands-on clinical experiences, personalized mentorship, and a rigorous curriculum, you'll graduate prepared to serve diverse communities in healthcare, education, mental health, and community settings.

Founded in 1956, Loyola's music therapy program is one of the longest-running programs in the United States. Our students learn from experienced faculty, engage in extensive clinical training, and become part of a tradition of excellence that has prepared generations of music therapists to lead and innovate in the profession. Our music therapy program is accredited by the American Music Therapy Association, Inc
