Scholarships
Scholarships aren’t just for geniuses
With approximately 84 percent of all Loyola undergraduates receiving some kind of financial aid, it goes without saying that there are many kinds of scholarships available at Loyola University New Orleans.
Academic scholarships
For freshman, these are based on outstanding academic achievement, competitive test scores and significant community involvement. To be eligible, you must first apply for admission by December 1. An interview is strongly recommended and must be completed by December 1 as well.
For the Ignatian Scholarship for Academic Excellence applicants, an interview is required, as well as a resume that shows community involvement and demonstrated leadership. The Office of Admissions also awards specific academic scholarships to qualified students.
Talent-based scholarships
These are awarded annually to music, theatre arts, and visual arts majors (performing only). The scholarships are awarded after the audition process has taken place.
There are also talent-based scholarships for freshmen and transfer students in the Department of Visual Arts. To be considered, freshmen must have been accepted for admission and must submit a portfolio by March 1. Transfer students should also submit applications and portfolios by this date.
