Loyola students perform at New Orleans Jazz Fest

In what has become an ongoing tradition, students from Loyola University New Orleans College of Music and Media will perform at the annual New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival at the New Orleans Fair Grounds.

On Saturday, April 28 at 11:15 a.m., the Loyola Jazz Band will play in the WWOZ tent. Directed by Coordinator of Jazz Studies John Mahoney, the ensemble will perform a selection of works by Billy Byers, Bob Brookmeyer, Mahoney, Ed Neumeister and Thad Jones. Loyola students Nick Ellman, Ian Bowman, Wayne Mitchell, Scott Clemens, Carson Wahl, Ben Carsman, Sam Kuslan and Calvin Morin-Martin will all be featured soloists.

The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival is a multi-day cultural celebration in which thousands of musicians, chefs and crafts artists welcome more than 400,000 visitors annually. The event showcases unforgettable music on several stages, local cuisine and crafts from the region and abroad. This year, the event will be held April 27 – May 6.
