The guitar department at Loyola offers one-on-one lessons with an accomplished professor of guitar, both in jazz and classical concentrations. Guest artists like Manuel Barrueco and Pavel Steidl are brought in for concerts, masterclasses, and workshops for Loyola students. At the end of each semester, guitar students perform in Classical Guitar Night, where students are able to perform collaborative and solo works.
Students are able audition for jazz guitar or classical guitar within their major. With guitar as a primary instrument, students can choose almost any degree in the School of Music.
Students in the guitar department have the opportunity to perform in several ensembles
- Classical Guitar Night: the end of semester guitar studio concert.
- Chamber groups
- Classical Guitar Quartet Ensemble
- Jazz Ensembles
Loyola has state of the art recording facilities which are available for Loyola guitar students.
