Local 3-D showings will be held in theaters in Harvey, Kenner, Metairie, Slidell and Covington. For specific locations and information, visit www.carmen3d.com.

Hymel and his fiancé, soprano Irini Kyriakidou, will visit Loyola to perform in a masterclass and have an informal question and answer session on Tuesday, March 1, at 12:30 p.m. in Nunemaker Auditorium. The masterclass is free and open to the public.

Arguably one of the world’s most popular operas, “Carmen” is an exciting story of love, jealousy and betrayal. The story’s action takes place in Seville, Spain, in the mid-19th century. Don José, who was training for the priesthood, killed a man in a quarrel and has had to enlist in the army in Seville. His mother and Micaëla, who loves him and hopes to marry him, have followed him to the south and live in a village near the city. Click here to watch the video trailer >>

Zachary Vocal Competition and the 2008 Giulio Gari Foundation Competition. He also won the George London Award in 2008.
