Karen Barbalich Smith '79 (piano pedagogy), director of the Loyola Preparatory Arts Program, was awarded a scholarship by the National Piano Foundation and the NAMM Foundation to attend Music Teachers National Association’s Pedagogy Saturday Recreational Music Making (RMM) Teaching track at the national convention to be held in San Antonio, Texas. RMM is a new teaching strategy that “enables people who never before considered themselves musical to discover the joy and wellness benefits of playing a musical instrument.”
