About the College

Loyola’s College of Music and Media serves as the preeminent center of performing and visual arts study among all Jesuit colleges and universities throughout the United States and recognizes the historical role of music and the arts in the Roman Catholic Church.

Our College prepares students for professions in the arts, or other fields, in a manner that reflects the Jesuit ideals of truth, service, and justice, and provides the campus, region, and nation with activities demonstrating the University’s commitment to the arts.

Achievements + Research

The past several years have seen continuing success in all aspects of Loyola’s arts programs: faculty members, many with national and international reputations in their fields, continue to demonstrate that Loyola’s arts programs may be some of the most advanced at the University.

The College’s student successes are remarkable, with several national and regional competition winners, a wide variety of graduating seniors accepted to prestigious graduate programs, and many alumni engaged in successful careers in the arts.

Successful alumni in voice include performers at the Metropolitan Opera, Covent Garden, Vienna Staatsoper, and La Scala; our instrumentalists perform in major orchestras across the county and in Europe; our graduates in ballet and theatre perform and direct companies across the United States. A large number of Loyola’s visual arts students are leading successful careers in the arts and in business.
