Journalism Student Selected to Participate in 2019 Excellence in Journalism conference, NABJ Student Multimedia Projects

 

Skye Ray, a senior journalism major in the award-winning Loyola University New Orleans School of Communication and Design, has been selected as a member of the 2019 National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Student Multimedia Projects in Miami, Florida where she will report at the 2019 NABJ Convention and Career Fair. Skye also has been selected as a 2019 fellow for the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) at the 2019 Excellence in Journalism Conference in San Antonio, Texas. Skye is the president  and founder of the Loyola chapter of NABJ. Her selection marks the first time in Loyola history that a journalism student has been chosen to be a part of both student newsrooms at these important annual events. 

Outside of her role at Loyola, Skye works as an Assignment Assistant at WWL-TV, the CBS affiliate in New Orleans. In addition, Skye previously interned at WDSU, the NBC affiliate in New Orleans and WMAR-TV, the ABC affiliate in Baltimore as a teen reporter for Teen Perspective 2News.
