The Loyola Trumpet Studio welcomes back alumnus Alex Mayon, the acting Principal Trumpet in the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. During his time pursuing a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Loyola, Mayon won the School of Music Concerto/Aria Competition two times and was recognized for having the outstanding honors thesis in the graduating class. He was awarded a Graduate Teaching Assistantship to attend the Eastman School of Music, where he received his Master of Music Performance degree. Mayon had recently won the audition for 3rd/ Assistant Principal Trumpet in the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra when he was promoted to acting Principal Trumpet for the 2021-2022 season.

Fr. James Carter has always been an avid supporter of the arts, particularly of Loyola’s College of Music and Media. During his tenure as university president, Carter was an outspoken proponent of arts education, and demonstrated time and time again his commitment to Loyola’s unique tradition of excellence in this field.

Quartet members include Amy Thiaville, Rachel Jordan, Bruce Owen, and Rachel Hsieh.

Event is free and open to the public. The Loyola School of Music & Theatre Arts hosts events in compliance with the City of New Orleans' guidance for indoor music venues regarding COVID-19.
