Adjunct Professor
Mr. Pinkston received a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Centenary College of Louisiana and a Master of Fine Arts from Sam Houston State University. His formal training includes extensive studies at the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, as well as with teachers and choreographers Gwen Verdon, Ann Reinking, and Donald McKayle.
In addition to pickup dance companies, Keith was a member of the Arthur Aviles Typical Theatre and the Komenka Folk and Music Dance Ensemble. While he does not claim to be a vocalist or an actor, Keith has appeared in regional and community theatre productions of“A Chorus Line.” It was his performance of the tap dancing “Mike” for Shreveport Little Theatre that caught the eye of Ginger Folmer (Centenary College), his mentor for several decades.
Mr. Pinkston has had the honor of heading the dance department of Northwestern State University (Natchitoches, Louisiana) and currently serves as an adjunct instructor at Loyola University of Louisiana. He is the owner and executive director of New Orleans Dance Academy, having served in this role since 2012. Keith has produced countless dance concerts and has choreographed several pieces in ballet, jazz, modern, and tap dance techniques. In addition to all things dance, Mr. Pinkston is an award-winning, boutique photographer specializing in dance and landscape photography.
