Theatre Alum Finding Success in NOLA as Costume Designer

Kaleb Babb, a 2013 graduate from the Theatre Arts & Dance Department, has gone on to specialize in wardrobe management, production design, and quality craftsmanship. He has worked across the country in Lancaster PA, Memphis TN, and Houston TX in various positions ranging from costume designer, wardrobe supervisor, shop manager, and technician for a variety of different companies. Some of these prestigious companies include the Houston Ballet, Playhouse on the Square, Theatre Under the Stars, Theatre Memphis, Tennessee Shakespeare Company, and Allenberry Playhouse. All of these opportunities have proven his commitment, skill, and expertise to the field of theatrical costuming.

Although he has enjoyed traveling around the country, Kaleb is happy to be back in the Big Easy: "Moving back home has been a dream! After being away for the past 6 years, I am so excited to finally return to my hometown New Orleans. Growing up here and attending Loyola, it was my obvious choice to come back to my roots and settle down in the place I call home."

Since he's returned, Babb designed costumes for 9 to 5: The Musical at Rivertown Theaters for the Performing Arts and Cabaret at Southeastern Louisiana University directed by Alton Geno. Some of his upcoming design projects include Higgins: The Man, The Boat, The War at the National World War II Museum Stage Door Canteen, and the upcoming Rivertown Theaters spring season.

Some of Kaleb's other works include Die Fledermaus at the University of Memphis, Shrek: The Musical at Theatre Memphis, and Ragtime at Theater Under The Stars. Be sure to check out his portfolio of amazing work at kalebjbabb.com!
