Professor Starring in Local Tennessee Williams Production

Loyola professor, Janet Shea, will join The Tennessee William’s Theatre Company of New Orleans in The Milk Train Doesn’t Stop Here Anymore; Tennessee Williams’ brilliant and scathing treatise on mortality and the material world. Shea stars as Flora “Sissy” Goforth, a tenacious actress who metaphorically stands atop the heap of bodies of those whom she’s outlived. Much like her symbol the Griffin she is majestic but with deadly claws. However, immortality is not a part of this  “sophisticated fairy tale” and Sissy’s days are numbered...to two. In the final days of her life, Sissy must come to grips with her own mortality while still asserting power over her employees and her life story. To make letting go infinitely harder, a handsome young man comes uphill to Sissy’s cliffside estate; could he bring tidings of love? She may never know.

Shea says about the role, “This is one of the most challenging roles that I have had to tackle in many years.  I am grateful that Mr. Shackleford and Mr. Correro have such confidence in me.  It is a pleasure to work with them and the very strong cast in this show.  I hope that some of the Loyola community will come out to see us.”

TWTC Co-Artistic Director Augustin J. Correro further promotes the show by praising his lead actress, explaining that “Janet as Sissy Goforth was a no-brainer… [her] talent is a New Orleans treasure. Her skill at weaving her own magical mystique into fury, humor, and tenderness is such an asset to this challenging and powerful play,”

The show runs Mar. 23 – April 2 at 8:00 p.m. (excluding an earlier show on Mar. 26, which begins at 6:00 p.m.). Tickets can be purchased online at www.twtheatrenola.com or by calling (504)-264-2580, and are $25 for General Admission and $20 for students and seniors. Ticketing for the first weekend will be handled by the Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival: www.tennesseewilliams.net.

This is a two-week engagement sure to leave each audience breathless.
