James McBride (BA '12) finds success as a theater artist at Hartford Stage and in New York City.

James McBride (BA '12) is the 2012/2013 Artistic Apprentice at Hartford Stage, where he has worked on several projects including the world premiere of the Broadway-bound musical, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, the world premiere of Daniel Beaty's new folk memory play with music, Breath and Imagination, and Big Dance Theatre's Man in a Case, featuring Mikhail Baryshnikov. He will also be the assistant director on the upcoming production of Twelfth Night. James assisted in the producing of Hartford Stage's Brand: NEW Play Festival, which included a piece directed by Loyola Alumna Loretta Greco, the current Artistic Director of The Magic Theatre. In March, James is directing a staged reading of Tauris, a new play by Sarah Moon, as part of Phoenix Theatre Ensemble's First Stories Festival in NYC. He is currently co-curator of Re:PlaysBlog.com. This past summer, James was the directing candidate for the American Theatre Wing's Springboard NYC program.
