Artist Statement

My work is a way to interpret the ideas that I have about who I am and the way I see the world. I use many different mediums, styles, and concepts. Where I get my ideas and inspirations is mostly from my family and childhood. Every work of art I create is a memory from the past, they explain where I’ve come from and what I’ve learned, also a preview of the future, where I’m going.

Many different methods can be seen in my work: photography, casting, carving, videography, and silkscreen. As an artist, I try to create pieces that people can relate to and enjoy. If I can reach one person through my art then I succeeded in my work.

Artwork #1
Medium: Carving, casting, video
In this piece of art, I tried to capture my grandparents' love and connection through the casting of their hands. The carving of the rose is a symbol of my great grandmother who was by my side through most of my life. The bible verses represent the Christian values they all instilled in me throughout my life. The video that I took of nature is being projected onto the artwork.

Artwork #2
Medium: photography book( hardback book)
This piece is a symbol of my future. I am a photographer at heart and wish to pursue a career in photography. That is the reason I tied photography into bookbinding. The photos that I took are Louisiana-themed. I have taken pictures of nature scenes and Mardi Gras.

Artwork # 3
Medium: silkscreen
The silkscreens that I have done are of many different items. Things I enjoy throughout my life.

Artwork #4
Medium: photography
These pictures are my true passion. I love taking pictures of many different sporting events. I take pictures of many sports for different schools from high school to colligate sports.

Artwork #5
I am creating a 3D cutout of cardboard and doing a screen print on the cardboard then on the back I am putting my pictures on the back of the cardboard.

Artwork#6
I am ordering 2 of my photos and it's going to be an aluminum backing.
