Loyola theatre's 'The Scene' gets nominated for Big Easy Award

“The Scene,” produced by Loyola University New Orleans’ Department of Theatre Arts and Dance, has been nominated for a Big Easy Entertainment Award in the category of Best University Production. The Big Easy Foundation will announce the winners at the awards ceremony on April 19 at Mardi Gras World.

“The Scene,” a fierce, edgy and scathing comedy by Theresa Rebeck and directed by Artemis Preeshl, M.F.A., assistant professor of theatre arts, ran in the Lower Depths Theater in February 2009. The cast included Loyola students Andrew De La Peña as Charlie, Rebecca Elizabeth Hollingsworth as Stella, Rolando Andrĕ López Torres as Lewis and Sarah Jordan Stout as Clea.

The Big Easy Entertainment Awards are sponsored by Gambit Weekly, the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, and Coleman E. Adler and Sons. Tickets are $100 and proceeds benefit the Big Easy Foundation. For reservations, call 504-483-3129.
