Alyssa Haney

Dance Instructor

Alyssa Haney holds an MA in Dance Theories & Practices from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. She served as a department TA and taught courses in ballet and dance appreciation, in addition to her studies of technique, pedagogy, choreography, and dance history with B.J Sullivan, Dr. Jill Green, Dr. Ana Paula Hofling, and Cynthia Ling Lee. She received a BFA in Dance and History from Tulane University, where she performed in faculty works as a member of the Newcomb Dance Company. She is an active member of the New Orleans dance community and has performed with Ballet Hysell and D'Project since 2010. Her choreography for D'Project has been performed in Southern Voices: Dance Out Loud, Whispers & Voices, The Death Monologues, and Let's Dance: A Modern Dance Tribute to David Bowie. She is a member of the Society of Dance History Scholars, the Congress on Research in Dance, and has presented research at the CORD conference. She is also currently working towards completing a 200 hour yoga teacher training and certification program through Wild Lotus Yoga.
