Robert Riddick worked for nearly 20 years as an engineer, videographer, editor and satellite truck operator for WDSU TV. He is certified in Avid Media Composer and is experienced in Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition, and Apple Final Cut Pro.
An aircraft pilot for more than 30 years, he attended the first drone journalism testing program at the Mid-Atlantic Aviation Partnership at Virginia Tech, one of six national test programs to conduct research to integrate unmanned aircraft into the nation’s airspace system. He was granted an FAA 333 exemption allowing him to pilot small unmanned aircraft systems for commercial photography and videography and has earned the FAA Remote Pilot Certificate. He was granted a FAA part 107 waiver for nighttime commercial unmanned aircraft operations and is a FAA certified ground instructor.
Riddick is currently a deputy sheriff for the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, where among other duties he pilots small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS). He also does works as a freelance drone pilot-photographer. Riddick is a member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers, Humanitarian Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Network, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and the Airborne Public Safety Association.
