Megan Mackel has nearly 15 years of hands-on television news experience. Over her career she covered three olympic games (London, Sochi, and PyeongChang), been recruited to judge the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) Best of Photojournalism national contest and the White House News Photographers Association (WHNPA) national Eye of History contest, and currently teaches Adobe Premiere to newsrooms across the country. Megan also has her FAA Part 107 certification allowing her to fly drones commercially and has experience flying both small consumer drones and more professional, powerful machines used in newsrooms. Recently, Megan held the position of Chief Photographer at a local television station in New Orleans where she led a team of 18 photographers and editors through everything from breaking news to special coverage events. She's been recognized for her work through winning numerous local, state, and regional journalism awards including the Press Club of New Orleans' prestigious President's Television Videography Award, Emmys, and a Murrow.
