Leah Floyd

Instructor of Design

B.A., Stetson University; M.F.A, University of Florida, Gainesville

Leah Floyd instructs image based courses (photography and collage) at Loyola University, New Orleans in the Departments of Art and Design. She attended Stetson University, in Deland, Florida, for her Bachlor's of Art in Literature and received her Master of Fine Arts from the University of Florida, Gainesville, with a concentration in Creative Photography.

As an interdisciplinary artist her work utilizes a variety of media ranging from, and combining, photography, collage, video, sculpture, fiber and drawing.  Her work often challenges the concept of failure and seeks to find productivity in missed marks or miscommunication- finding resolution within differing strategies. Her current work, through video, collage, fiber and photography, utilizes the image of the horizon as a metaphor for the unattainable. This work seeks to reframe the negative feelings often associated with longing, as a neutral, natural human emotion.

Leah Floyd has exhibited her work locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
