Please join us for the Mostly Mondays Faculty Research Lecture Series, where we welcome Loyola's Coordinator of Music Education Dr. Ed McClellan

In his talk, Dr. McClellan will discuss 1) what is the Psychology of Music? –  “a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary study of the phenomenon of music,” 2) how we perceive, understand, and respond to music, and 3) how our brain organizes sounds into coherent structures, in order to interpret and respond to music.

Dr. Edward McClellan is recent recipient of a Marquette Fellowship at Loyola University New Orleans.  He has published research in such journals as Action, Criticism, and Theory for Music Education, Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education, Contributions to Music Education, and the Music Educators Journal.  Dr. McClellan serves on the Editorial Board for the International Journal of Music Education, Themes, Opinions, Policy, Curriculum, and Strategies for Music Education Praxis, and Music Educators Journal.  Dr. McClellan is currently State Chair of the Society for Research in Music Education and Chair of the Society of Music Teacher Education for the State of Louisiana.
